Katy Perry is not just a singer anymore! The "Birthday" performer, 29, unveiled a major new side project on Tuesday, June 17.
Perry announced the launch of Metamorphosis Music, a joint venture record label with the company she is under, Capitol Records. Perry's first act with Metamorphosis was signing singer Ferras, who has been opening for the pop star on her Prismatic World Tour.
"I am so ECSTATIC to finally announce my NEW label Metamorphosis Music & my first signing, the incredibly talented & soulful FERRAS!" Perry tweeted.
The singer serves as an executive producer on Ferras' new self-titled EP, which Metamorphosis Music released on Tuesday. She went on to call him "a man with a message" and "an important artist" in a release.
"Her instincts are really on point," Ferras said in a release about Perry's production work. "She is very blunt and doesn’t sugar-coat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically and was a natural partner."
Perry teased the news of the record label on Twitter on Monday, June 16. "So…I have a HUGE announcement I finally get to share with you tomorrow… Stay tuned…" she wrote.
Ferras also hinted at what was to come, tweeting on June 1, "I've been keeping a secret. But not for too much longer!"
