All hail Her Madgesty! Madonna surprised 400 fans at a 25th anniversary screening of her documentary, Madonna: Truth or Dare, on Wednesday, August 24, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Dressed in a red off-the-shoulder dress, the Queen of Pop, 58, stunned die-hard devotees when she unexpectedly joined them for the celebration of the film — an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at her iconic Blond Ambition tour interlaced with bits of her personal life and on-the-road moments with her crew of dancers and backup singers. The movie was originally released in May 1991.
“[Madonna] came out to support Alek Keshishian, her longtime friend and director of the celebrated documentary,” a source tells Us Weekly.
Attendees quickly took to social media to share their excitement over seeing the living legend in person.
“MADONNA RANDOMLY ATTENDING A TRUTH OR DARE SCREENING AT MOMA NYC!! I’m dying! Someone please take me there now lol 😂👑,” one fan wrote, while another tweeted: “Amazing night seeing #truthordare with @Madonna literally a few seats away #MoMa…”
The “Vogue” singer also documented her outing via Instagram. “Having a kiki with Lola after 25th Anniversary Screening of Truth Or Dare at the MOMA! 😂👨❤️👨💘,” she captioned a snap of herself and daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon, 19, going in for a kiss while posing for photographers at the event.

In a subsequent ‘gram, the superstar reflected back on making Madonna: Truth or Dare, which went on to become the biggest-grossing documentary of its time.
“Surreal Moment! At the MOMA!! So nice to watch a film in a museum,” she wrote alongside a smiley shot of herself. “So many freedoms we take for granted that we did not have then. Thank you Alek Keshishian. We changed history with this film.!🙏🏻💘.”
Prior to paying tribute to Truth or Dare, the mom of four recently rang in her 58th birthday with family and close friends while vacationing in Cuba.
