The ghosts of Nashville past come back to haunt Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) in the series finale on Wednesday, May 25, as seen in a new clip from the episode.

In the video, Juliette exits her car, exhausted, only to be confronted by a cameraman who has some tough questions for the country singer about the night Jeff Fordham died. As Nashville fans will remember, Fordham (Oliver Hudson) fell to his death while trying to save a drunken, depressed Juliette from going off the edge of a roof.

"Juliette, were you with your manager when he fell to his death? It's all over our website," the cameraman says, all the while filming her shocked reaction. "We received an anonymous tip! Is it true? Were you on that roof?"

Juliette — who has been trying to turn her life around since the fatal accident — is clearly rattled. "How did you … ?" she asks frantically.

As previously reported, ABC canceled the country-music drama — which also stars Connie Britton — after four seasons earlier this month. Since then, devoted fans have rallied to try to get the series picked up by another network or by Hulu or DirecTV. Lionsgate, the studio behind the show, is actively seeking a new distributor.

Watch the clip above, and tune in to the series finale on ABC on Wednesday, May 24, at 10 p.m. ET.
