As if Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj don't bring enough glamour and drama to the revamped American Idol, fans of the FOX smash can expect one more female superstar in the mix: Nicole Kidman!
With husband Keith Urban named a new judge alongside singer Carey and rapper Minaj -- plus veteran judge Randy Jackson -- Kidman, 45, confirmed to E! News' Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet that she'll be cheering on her man in the wings.
"Yeah! Next year I'll be there," said the actress (nominated this year for her role in the miniseries Hemingway & Gellhorn), who looked regal in a white column dress by Berardi with elaborate blue-sequin embellishment.
Kidman will have to cheer on country singer Urban, 44, from afar for the rest of 2012. "This year I'm in France. I'm playing Grace Kelly, actually," she explained. The Oscar winner will play the late Princess Grace in Grace of Monaco -- which made the blazing sun in Los Angeles worrisome for Kidman. "I'm gonna get sunburned. I should be pale!" she said.
Said Urban of his Idol gig to Seacrest: "I'm very glad you're there. I'm glad randy's there. It's a good comfort level!"
It was also the couple's first red carpet walk since Kidman's first husband Tom Cruise's divorce from Katie Holmes dominated headlines this past summer. (Us Weekly revealed that Kidman was a secret confidante for Holmes, 33, as she struggled to end her marriage to Cruise, 50.)
Mom to kids Isabella, 19, and Connor, 17, with Cruise, Kidman shares young daughters Sunday Rose, 4, and Faith Margaret, 21 months.
