Making Us Happy! Pharrell Williams won one of the first 2015 Grammy awards of the night for Best Pop Solo Performance for his smash hit “Happy.” But when he took the stage, the typically smooth-talking R&B artist and producer, 41, appeared shocked and out of his element.
“I’m not going to make this awkward and long because I was so prepared for everyone else who is so talented in that category to walk away with that award,” he said before thanking family, friends, and collaborators.
Clad in an Adidas shorts suit, the returning Voice coach then declared, “Thank you guys so much, this is super awkward. I’m going to moonwalk my way off the stage right now.”
But when he attempted to do so, Williams wasn’t able to execute the move with the necessary Michael Jackson-esque swagger.
