Rooney Mara: My Law & Order SVU Guest Spot Was "Awful," "Stupid"

Guess Rooney Mara's not a fan of Benson and Stabler.

The breakout starlet may have earned one of her first acting gigs thanks to Dick Wolf and NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, but the experience sure left a sour taste in her mouth.

Appearing as Jessica DeLay, whose character was brutally attacked by two overweight bullies on a 2006 episode titled "Fat," Mara, 26, dismissed the role as "so stupid."

"It was so awful," The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star sniped in the January issue of Allure. "Me and my boyfriend -- although I [didn't] look old enough to have a boyfriend -- went and beat up these fat people, and at the end of the show you find out that I used to be obese and I hate fat people. It's ridiculous. Who would ever do that? Who would beat someone up because they're fat?"

Argues Mara: "As retribution, they sodomized her [in the episode]. I mean, I've been sodomized since the beginning of my career. I should have known then it would come full circle."

As the show airs its 13th season, Mara refuses to buy into the sex crimes drama's hype.

"People are obsessed with that show," she tells Allure. "I don't get it."

I'd have to agree with a lot of the comments already posted. The only thing I wonder is if she was trying to be funny about the "sodomy". I think actors forget who they are when their living in the hype of things. I understand not buying into the hype of something but a job is a job. If you didn't realize the outcome of your storyline, then perhaps you should take that up with your agent. I guess as a viewer it made sense the only silly thing I thought was allowing the character to have understandable motive. I guess I wanted the character just be a mean little girl. Why give an excuse like self hatered. I assume that maybe she wanted to be more complex. However, there are better ways to say things. So, Mara next time you do an interview don't allow the public to misinterpet your words. Otherwise you come across as a cocky soon to be somebody that nobody likes.

Who is this person, and what planet has she been on? Does she not realize that people are being killed for any number of "stupid" reasons? Fat, skinny, black, white, etc... If she didn't like the story line they asked her to do, why did she do it? Didn't she get a script beforehand? And in what country does she not look old enough to have a boyfriend? Somebody's full of themselves.

Oh, oh!! Do we just got herself a new Megan Fox?!?! :) "Who would kill people because they're fat?" Uh..... a teenage boy killed his mom cause he didn't want to play Yahtzee so... i'm pretty sure a "fat killer" is hiding somewhere on this planet!!

She says the Episode was Stupid but she did it anyway so who's the stupid one now.

Ignorant. I don't know much about Rooney Mara, or don't have any issues with her! But the messed up things that occur on SVU, really do happen! The world can be a messed up place. And yes people do beat up people because they are overweight! The comments probably shouldn't have been made! Just a weird article in itself, with her stating she was sodomized as well..um okay!

Hm, she sounds a little harsh. It sounds terrible but believe it or not, there ARE people out there who are cruel enough to do something like that. She should just be grateful she got the part. Jeez.

Nobody forced you to take the part!!
