Gellar reunited with her costar Sean Patrick Thomas (Ronald Clifford) and writer Roger Kumble for the special event. The trio sat at the same table, and cheered on the cast, which included American Idol alum Katie Stevens (Kathryn), Jared Kusnitz (Blaine Tuttle), Constantine Rousouli (Sebastian Valmont), and Pitch Perfect's Shelley Regner (Cecile Caldwell). The musical included some of the most iconic dialogue from the film and mixed in some epic '90s songs.

"Oh it's going down tonight," Gellar captioned an Instagram photo of the playbill. "#cruelintentionsthemusical #Rockwell."

A source tells Us Weekly that Selma Blair (Cecile) and Ryan Phillippe (Sebastian) were originally expected to attend. During the performance, the Secrets and Lies actor was posting Instagram photos from Coachella in Indio, Calif. Phillippe's ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, who played Annette Hargrove, was also noticeably absent.

Nevertheless, Gellar had a ball during the show. She took photos, and snapped a selfie with pal Betty Who during Kathryn and Cecile's big smooch! (Gellar and Blair won an MTV Movie Award for their kiss in 2000). She even was the first to enthusiastically clap during a romantic scene that included the Backstreet Boys hit "I Want It That Way."
