The other side of Taylor Swift's surprise face. The pop-country superstar, 24, didn't exactly clean up at the 2014 Grammys inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday, Jan. 26. Although nominated in several major categories -- and pulling off an admirable, headbanging piano rendition of "All Too Well" onstage -- the awards-circuit veteran went home empty handed.
But Swift briefly believed her luck had turned around when it was time to hand out the Album of the Year award, where her smash, acclaimed Red was among the categories.
Although Daft Punk's Random Access Memories was the ultimate victor (Sara Bareilles, Kendrick Lamar plus Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were also in contention), Swift, for a fleeting and unforgettable moment, seemed to think that she, actually, was the winner. The talked-about evidence? Swift's open-mouthed gasp as the name was called. In an instant, the Nashville resident realized her error, recovered, and politely applauded.
Regardless, the previously decorated star appeared to have a delightful evening as an audience member -- particularly during Beyonce and Jay Z's steamy opening "Drunk in Love" number, and during Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons' spirit mashup of "Radioactive."
