Toni Braxton is just one of the celebrities Keeping Up With the Kardashians! In fact, the “Unbreak My Heart” songbird, 47, told HuffPost Live that she has Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and the Kardashian-Jenner family to thank for her own WEtv reality series, Braxton Family Values.
Compared by some to the Kardashian sisters, Toni and her sisters Tamar, Towanda, Traci, Trina, and their mom, Evelyn, followed in the path of E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians after it launched in 2007. Braxton Family Values, which premieres its fifth season on WEtv later this month, aired its first episode in 2011.
“I love the Kardashians and what it shows is family power — I like that,” Braxton told HuffPost Live in a May 13 interview. “They were a trendsetter and the Kardashians helped us get on the air as a reality show.”
Like their reality TV family kin, the Braxton family aren’t afraid to share their most intimate moments with the cameras — to a point. “I will not share going to the bathroom. If they could cover you going to tinkle, they would,” said Braxton.
Teasing family secrets that’ll be revealed on season five, Braxton told HuffPost Live she and her sisters are grateful to have all of their family moments captured on film. “We’ve shot scenes and too much information was revealed and it caused friction, but it forces us to work through it, even when we don’t want to,” she said.
