Garfield and Hoffman both received a nod for their roles in the revival of Arthur Miller‘s classic drama Death of Salesman. Sex and the City star Nixon earned her Best Performance by an Actress nomination for her role in Wit, a play in which she shaved her head for in order to portray about a woman battling cancer.

But it was the new musical Once (based on the 2006 film of the same name) that led the nominations list scoring 11 nods, including Best Musical. Other notable nominations include movie-to-stage adaptations, Newsies with eight nods and Ghost the Musical with three.

The 2012 Tony Awards will be held on June 10 at New York’s Beacon Theater on CBS. Actor Neil Patrick Harris will host the show for the third time.
