While filming a Pepsi commercial in 1984, Jackson's hair caught on fire. The next day -- with visible burn marks along his ear and cheek -- the singer went out to dinner with Webster TV star Emmanuel Lewis. It is believed that he first began dabbling in plastic surgery at this time.

I agree with all my heart and soul with Michelle Norris, you think about it, he never had a childhood, never, wouldn't you want to hang around the people(kids) that was full of life and give them the time in there childhood that you wish you could have had knowing their parents couldn't afford to do those things with them??? To think that he kept his dinner engagement under such trying circumstances. Even a tiny little burn on the tip of a finger hurts for many hours. How much more he must have suffered, even in this shot, though he's smiling through the pain.

Sometimes I think we love him more than his family loves him. I go around still to this day with swelled eyes from crying over Michael. I never see his family looking bad from their sorrow for him.
