Born November 20, 1971 in Rome, Joel McHale is perhaps best-known as the host of E!'s The Soup. Raised in the Seattle area, the aspiring actor attended the University of Washington, where he played tight end on the school's football team. In his spare time, McHale performed with an improv comedy group at Unexpected Productions.
After earning his master's degree in acting, McHale moved to L.A. and earned small roles on CSI: Miami and Will & Grace. He also appeared in films such as Lords of Dogtown and Spider-Man 2. In 2004, he began hosting The Soup, a half-hour celebrity news satire on the E! network.
In addition to his hosting duties, McHale also appears on the NBC comedy Community (opposite Chevy Chase).
McHale married Sarah Williams in 1996. They have two sons: Edward Roy (born in 2005) and Isaac Hayden (born in 2008).
