This time it’s the real deal! While she’s been known to experiment with a good wig, Bethenny Frankel debuted a new — and permanent! — asymmetrical bob hairstyle with blunt bangs at the launch of her Skinnygirl Watermelon Lime Margarita on Thursday, August 17, in NYC.
Before heading out to the event, which doubled as a Real Housewives of New York viewing party, Frankel, 45, teased the style via Snapchat. “Happy is the new black,” she captioned the close-up, then added in a follow-up, “BTW that s—t ain’t no wig. I know. It’s cray.”

Once she hit the red carpet, she explained the inspiration behind her new fringe. “Do you like them? I really like them. It’s the summer of freedom,” the RHONY star told Us Weekly. “I was ready for a new look and I’m liking them a lot.”
Previously, the mom of Bryn, 6, who she shares with ex Jason Hoppy, modeled a short bob without bangs but with highlights, one which she’s now dyed a milk-chocolate hue.

Frankel also discussed her leave from the Real Housewives and whether she would continue with the series after what she called a “difficult season.” “I have a lot of things to think about — I have a bunch of businesses, a daughter, the Skinnygirl brand to protect, a production company. It’s a chessboard and you have to move different pieces around at different times to see what fits,” she told Us.

She added, “I’m happy right now. It was a difficult season. I enjoyed it, but I didn’t enjoy the end — and I did not enjoy the reunion. That’s the stain that’s on me right now, but we’ll see how I feel [in time].”
