I mean I did have fun as a brunette…

Another one! Like so many celebs who have lightened their locks this summer, Gina Rodriguez debuted a head full of blonde hair on Thursday, July 14.

“I mean I did have fun as a brunette…,” Jane the Virgin’s star, 31, captioned the selfie. While her dark blonde hair was noticably lighter, she kept her roots their natural brunette hue. Celebrity hair colorist Stacy Heitman, who dyed Rogriguez’s hair, regrammed the selfie and gave a shoutout to stylists Sally Hershberger and Paul Norton.

Rodriguez’s new hue is only one of many changes this year. On May 2, she showcased a new lob. “Short hair, don’t care. Ha. Not true. It’ll take some adjusting. I’ll just be a little crazy till the fairy dust settles!” she captioned an Instagram selfie. She revealed that she’d be donating her hair, which hung past her shoulders, to Locks of Love in a tweet that same day.

But the real shocker came two days later, when she went ultra-bold and shaved the sides of her head to get into character for 2017’s sci-fi movie Annihilation).

“Annihilation. #AnyaThorensen,” she Instagrammed, showing fans her new look.

Rodriguez joins a slew of stars who’ve taken a walk on the light side. Ariana Grande, Emma Stone, Khloé Kardashian and many more have gone blonde (or blonder) for the summer. Tracey Cunningham, who’s responsible for Grande and Kardashian’s transformation, gave Us Weekly a few tips for fans who are thinking about following suit.

Find a salon that offers Olaplex Bond Multiplier for your appointment. “It’s a hair-color-change life saver!” she said. And when you’re maintaining your hair, “always use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioners such as Redken Blonde Idol. This will make sure that your color doesn’t fade in between salon visits. It doesn’t strip your new color, either.”
