Is there something in the water in Hollywood? Short hair is all the rage these days -- celebs including Jennifer Aniston, Pamela Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jennifer Hudson have debuted dramatic new bobs and pixie cuts in recent weeks, and others are following suit. The latest star to join their ranks? Jennifer Lawrence.

The Hunger Games actress, 23, debuted a shocking, short, new 'do on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in a photo on her Facebook page. The pic showed her en route to a fan event, where she would be hanging with costars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth and chatting with Hunger Games fans via Google+, Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr.

A source in Atlanta, where the Hunger Games films are shot, tells Us Weekly that Riawna Capri, a stylist at West Hollywood's Nine Zero One Salon, cut and dyed Lawrence's hair a few weeks ago. (Capri herself could not be reached for comment.)

"It's short and drastic," the source tells Us of the Oscar winner's new 'do.

Another insider describes it as "kind of a punk pixie cut that has a few longer pieces on one side but is shorter everywhere else." The source notes that she's been wearing wigs to film the third Hunger Games installment, Mockingjay: Part 1. (Lawrence's character, Katniss Everdeen, has long, nearly jet-black hair in the movies.)

The Hunger Games fan event is Lawrence's first official appearance in weeks. On Monday, Nov. 4, she was spotted arriving in L.A. -- but she kept her back-to-blonde hair strategically hidden under a slouchy gray beanie.
