Did Kylie Jenner Copy This YouTuber’s Eyeshadow Palette?

Kylie Jenner

Uh-oh. Kylie Jenner has much to celebrate with the release of her new bronze eyeshadow palette, Kyshadow. The Kylie Cosmetics entrepreneur, 18, gave the brand’s 5.8 million Instagram followers a glimpse of the nine pressed powders on Friday, July 25. And just two days later, she Instagrammed about the product selling out.

“OMGGGGGG my kyshadow palette sold out in 1 minute!!!!!!!! This is crazy!!! Thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!,” she wrote in a Wednesday, July 27, Instagram liked by 1.2 million people on her personal page. “I’m sorry to disappoint anyone that couldn't get it. We will be back THIS FRIDAY with more bronze palettes!”

But Shannon Harris, a beauty vlogger with more than 2,610,000 YouTube subscribers, is crying foul. On July 25, the New Zealand–based influencer tweeted a side-by-side photo of Kyshadow and her own $11 Shaaanxo palette that boasts very similar colors. Though Harris’ tweet racked up over 15,000 retweets and 24,000 favorites, users were divided over the subtle shade.

“[W]hen I saw Kylie's snapchat I instantly was like omg so similar probably way more expensive for the same thing,” a user wrote to Shannon. But others took Jenner’s side, throwing jabs at the vlogger. “when did you invent Bronze colors and white boxes?,” one tweeter asked Harris.

Though Jenner hasn’t responded to the backlash (perhaps she’s too busy gearing up for her next batch of bronze palettes set to drop on Friday, July 29), Harris made it clear that there was no hate on her end.

“Let's be honest I'm gonna buy the Kylie eyeshadows,” she tweeted on July 25. “Sorry to anyone who was genuinely hurt by my earlier tweet!!! Was never my intention of course, it was intended as a joke . I never once said ‘Kylie copied me’  I made a joke bc they look similar lol come on!  yes, like lots of palettes do! No beef here guys.”
