Taylor Kitsch goes blonde for his role in upcoming Ryan Murphy film The Normal Heart.

Is blonde the new normal for Taylor Kitsch? The former Friday Night Lights actor turned heads while filming The Normal Heart in New York City's Soho neighborhood on Tuesday, June 11, sporting a head of platinum blonde hair. The usually-brunette actor was also dressed to the nines in a dress shirt, red suspenders, and a tie for the film.

In the Ryan Murphy-helmed flick, Kitsch, 32, plays Bruce Niles, a gay activist who becomes elected the president of an organization raising awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the early 1980s.

The film also features an all-star cast, including Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer, Mark Ruffalo, Jim Parsons and Jonathan Groff, and is based off the award-winning play by the same name.

Following the success of his role as Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights, Kitsch starred in a few flicks that did less than stellar at the box office, including Battleship (opposite Rihanna and Alexander Skarsgard) and 2012's John Carter.
