Funny timing, with Michael's ex-wife trying to get more money from him. The old man has cancer and a crazy wife. Maybe a bid for sympathy from the judge?

@Kasey, a lot of people years ago ended up on the streets and/or in jail. The mental health facilities back in the day were horrible and with the stigma on mental illness, many chose to just suffer and not seek help. Not to mention the dangers of the class of drugs used in the past. TERRIBLE side effects.

First off, whoever leaked her diagnosis is an ass! That had to come from the inside of whatever facility she is in. I really hope they diagnosed her correctly. SOme Dr's are quick to throw a diagnosis out there and load you up on the meds. BP2 is not as severe w/the manic episodes as BP1. My sisters have BP1 and it was HELL to watch until they got the meds right. She has been through a terrible year. I wish her well.

It seems half the population is bi-polar. I think it is sad people are not so forgiving of mental illness, but I think the term bi-polar has been applied to many..too many. How did people survive years ago?..they must have been bi-polar also? anyway I wish her luck and give her real credit..it has to have been a hard year for her.

WTF? You don't get bi-polar 2 from stress, you're born with it. I hope they're not implying that. And you don't need to enter a treatment center for it, outpatient therapy works fine.

DONT DO IT. The poison they give you just messes with your brain chemistry. A lot of times the cure is worse than the disease and it is a cycle of trying this and that that goes on forever. They had me on bipolar medication for a while until I realized that the main effects weren't worth the side effects. Best of luck to her, she seems like a nice person.

I am so happy that she is seeking treatment. However it takes years for someone to get diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder so I question if she was diagnosed properly. Also there are two types of Bipolar, Bipolar one has more bouts of depression and Bipolar II hypomanic think Charlie Sheen. I hope she knows what this diagnosis means. You can not stop taking medication and you should see a therapist regualrly. This is a diagnosis also that is considered a disability. It is one of the worst mental illness next to schizophrenia. I hope she stays on top of it and get high quality treatment.

GREAT for her - very proud that she has the courage to do this and is letting people know - depression, bipolar, the whole spectrum is a horrible disease to have and horrible to cope with - I agree with every one who has made comments having suffered depression myself....I will commend anyone who seeks treatment and recognizes this and will stick my neck out to help anyone who suffers and seeks help:)

Very proud of her that she is being open about seeking treatment and about her diagnosis. Her "nothing to hide/nothing to be ashamed about" attitude is an awesome statement about who she is and what she is about, and will do much for those who still struggle with the stigma of mental illness.

I feel bad for Cahterine and hope she feels better soon. I have depresion and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's mental cancer.

As a Nurse with experience in Mental Health, I must agree with Julianne; there is far too much stigma regarding mental health. Catherine is a woman of great courage for seeking help; I wish her and her family all of the best. She is and always will be a class act.

I wish her all the best

My two older sons and my sister have Bipolar disorder, and despite all the information out there, there's still so much to learn about it, and so much stigma attached to mental illness in general. Good for Catherine Zeta-Jones for seeking treatment for her illness. I wish her nothing but the best!
