To land the biggest cover of her career so far -- Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue -- model Kate Upton didn't put herself through the ringer.

"I just cut out some more of the splurges," Upton, 19, told Us Weekly at Tuesday's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party at Crimson in NYC. "But you know, they want you to be curvy and sexy. They don't want you to do anything drastic."

Normally, Upton says she'll splurge once a week. "It could be a cupcake," she said. "It doesn't matter!"

To keep in top shape, the stunner works daily with a personal trainer for "at least an hour," she explained. "It's a full body workout and it's about getting lean and then card."

Her daily diet? "Oatmeal, salad, protein," with healthy snacks like almonds, she said "I try to stay away from red meat, not for any specific reason, it's just I really don't like it."

Gracing the world-famous cover, she admits is "amazing!"
