Shape Editor Backtracks: I "Stand By" LeAnn Rimes Cover

Shape editor-in-chief Valerie Latona is on Team LeAnn after all.
On Thursday, in an email obtained by TooFab, Latona apologized for putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover of its October issue, saying it was a "terrible mistake."
Backtracking, Latona told USA Today on Friday: "My comments have been taken out of context. I used the words of the few unhappy readers who wrote in.

In the controversial interview with Shape, Rimes talked bluntly about her affair with Eddie Cibrian, which ended both her marriage to Dean Sheremet and his union with model Brandi Glanville. ("Putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal," Latona's original email said.)
"I stand by the fact that LeAnn's story is compelling--and her courage and strength in the face of so much adversity is compelling. That is why I put her on the cover of Shape for what is now the third time," Latona told USA Today Friday.

"The fact is a mere 40 readers out of almost 6 million readers wrote in to complain calling LeAnn a 'husband stealer' and a 'terrible mistake for Shape'," the editor continued.
"I wrote to those women apologizing that our cover choice did not make them happy--as I have done for other cover stars in the past."

22well i'm glad you're not condoning what leann did, jennifer, and yes many trampy gals cheat. the difference is that we're not putting them on the cover of "shape" magazine....and the editor was correct for saying it was a mistake to put her on, it was a mistake to retract it . i'm so glad u think that leann rimes is somebody you should look up to. i can only imagine how your daughter is gonna turn out. yikes. also jenn, we're bashing leann the s l u t because SHE is on the cover, eddie is NOT. for some reason, however, u feel the need to bring him into this. for what, he has nothing to do with this article whatsoever. leann is a tramp, get used to the fact, shape SHOULD apologize for putting such a pig on their cover.

With all the controvery over this, I bet it will be a cold day in hell before another magazine puts her ugly ass on the cover!
I'm not condoning what Leann Rimes did. But alot of women cheat on their husbands. Yes it's wrong but it happens. The editor of Shape was wrong for saying that it was a mistake for putting her on the cover & then retracting her statement. Why are people bashing Leann Rimes & not Eddie who is also a part of this too? He is at fault just like her. So she cheated. Wrong. But who cares. It seems the man always gets away with it but the women gets bad mouthed again & again. It's not fair.
She can work out all she wants and have her airbrushed picture on the cover of every magazine in the world, but she's got the morals if an alley cat and zero common sense. The airbrush can't fix that. She now has a severely tarnished reputation and he was fired from a very well paying job. All they had to do was lay low and it would have blown over but they felt the need to flaunt it and brag about it, so they have to deal with the fall out.

its shameful and embarhassing that she is on the cover - nobody is perfect, given that discretion is an admirable quality in a human being,she changed two little boys life forever, for the worse, she is absolutley not the the female or human being that i would want my daughter to be or become -
This isnt the first star in Hollywood to do this you know. Once again we persecute the woman and the man gets off easy. Not a lot written about Eddie and how he wronged his children and stole another man's wife. Move on US Magazine!
It's a shame that couples do not break up before being with someone new, but it's obvious that both parties' marriages were not working out. I believe it's never the fault of just one person, everyone involved had a choice in this matter. The ones who got cheated on needed to do better in the relationship too.
Was so happy with what she said yesterday. I was beginning to think editors could have some morals after all and it made Shape magazine more appealing to me. This is a great disappointment to me!

I LIKE THE COVER LEEANN IS BEAUTIFUL.She and Eddie seem happy I bet their ex's are also.If it wasn't working then they should have gotten out their marriages.Sure a different way..BUT I CANT JUDGE THEM..I was cheated on by my first husband and it hurt he should have been a real MAN and asked for a divorce then moved on..I AM VERY HAPPY NOW! I will never read this magazine again after the editor acted like this. Lets face it though, most celebs don't take their relationships or vows very seriously. I didn't think they should have featured Kim K on the cover either because she promotes diet pills etc. I'm in the medical field so I do have some knowledge about that.
Let's face it, people like to point fingers, but what's more, people who do the very same things as others really like to point fingers. In the end though, we are all human, and we all do stupid things from time to time. It is no one's place to judge another person, nor is it their place to hold grudges. the only people that know the real story in full are the 4 people involved. I can say this, though, people cheat for a reason. There is something wrong within that marriage, and they seek to find what they signed on for somewhere else. there is a lot of misplaced anger in this country, and blame. I have nothing against LeAnn and wish her nothing but success. It's a sad shame that other people feel it's their duty to say and do nasty things to her or others for whatever reason, but then, miserable people want to spread their misery around.
