Angelina Jolie: Shiloh "Wants to Be a Boy"

In August's Vanity Fair, Angelina Jolie opens up about her six children and relationship with beau Brad Pitt.
The Salt star, 35, admits she dresses Shiloh, 4, "like a little dude. Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style. It's how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits. She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers."

But Jolie says she isn't worried: She was just like Shiloh as a kid.
"Shiloh’s hysterically funny, one of the goofiest, most playful people you’ll ever meet," she says. "....Goofy and verbal, the early signs of a performer. I used to get dressed up in costumes and jump around."
Maddox, 8, is "a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically. He’s great at school, great at history. He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things."

Five-year-old Zahara has "got an extraordinary voice and is just so elegant and well spoken," adds the proud mom.
And twins Knox and Viv (who turn 2 next month)? They're "classic boy and girl," says the actress. "She’s really female. And he’s really a little dude.”
Jolie describes their home life "as happy."

Says the mom, "I got back from work last night, and everybody was playing music and dancing and I suddenly found myself dancing around with a bunch of little fun crazy people."
Are more kids on the way? “No, I’m not pregnant [but] we’re not opposed to it," she says. "We want to make sure we can give everybody special time. They're kids now, and can play together, but they’re going to need a lot more talking in the middle of the night, like I did with my mom for hours. We want to make sure we don’t build a family so big that we don’t have absolutely enough time to raise them each really well.”
She says things are stronger than ever with Pitt, 45, despite those split rumors.
"[We're not] against getting married [but] it’s just like we already are," she tells Vanity Fair. "Children are clearly a commitment, a bigger commitment [than marriage]. It’s for life.”

She didn't even mind his scraggly beard.
"I love Brad in every state," she says.
Adds Jolie, "I feel fortunate to have a relationship where I actually feel safe enough to imagine growing old together."

421Goodness People! Who made you the expert on humanity? "HOW DARE A LITTLE GIRL NOT WANT TO WEAR A FRILLY DRESS?! THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH HER! She's going to grow up to be confused!" Honestly, what the heck? While clothes may help present people themselves to the world they in no way define them! What happens if you become naked? "Oh my God! Where'd your dress go?! I had no idea you were a woman without one! You can't be! Noooo! Who are you without your long hair and dress?!" The blame falls on her mother. "HOW DARE ANGELINA LET HER DAUGHTER LOOK HOW SHE WANTS?! What a terrible mother! She should be forcing her child into dresses and pretty things!" But you know if Angelina did that she'd be held in comparison with the stage mothers who make their girls do pageants. Now, I really do not know anyone in this article nor do I know much about them. I'm guessing very few, if any, of you know anything substantial about them either. I do find it odd that one child (Pax) is left out of this interview, but I have no way of knowing the reason. Perhaps, as another suggested, this is not the complete article. Instead of finding this too alarming though, I find a lot of the comments here alarming. A lot of people are plain ridiculous. "Angelina STOLE (!) Brad!" Is Brad a puppy in a cage? Could he not "go home" if he wanted to? I'm thinking, especially after all this time, if he wanted to go back, he would. Perhaps this has something to do with why Shiloh wants to be a boy. She sees in her life how her father holds little to no blame in this situation he was at least a great part of. She sees how her mother, for all her humanitarian effort and graciousness of welcoming children into her home, is seen as a vicious s**t. Why would she want to allow herself into such a possible future perception?
What does she mean they 'had' to cut shiloh's hair? did shiloh hold them at gunpoint? sounds like the kids are the boss of them.and what about pax? she never mentioned him at all??

I have not seen 1 pic of her with anyone other than her husband or kids or for publicity shots for movies/sales products. Egad, JA had an UNwanted pregnancy and that is why she and Brad broke up. Ok, I agree she was wrong for messing with a married man, BUT, Brad had alot to do with it also. A woman can lure a man, but he has to want to stay for her to keep him SOOOOO Brad gets no resepct right along with her. Jennifer should just let it go, it happened, your heart, heal and live your life. She always looks so sad, what a shame.

Jolie is a good woman she a loving person and a loving mom.she has a good heart and always love her kids and take care all of them. I am so proud of her.

Shiloh was dressed in a Kingsley blue boys shirt and blue pants for her 1st infant photo shoot for the public, when she was not aware on how to dress like a boy. Shiloh was dressed in a white and red dress for a movie-Curious Case of Benjamin Button as am older baby. And only dressed up a few times in white or black dresses, with either sneakers, sandals and the rare sight of a pair of girly shoes worn with the black dress. The dresses and clothes shiloh has worn have always beem without any pink in them. And Before shilohs hair was cut, dyed with her only dressed in all boys clothes with the excuse Shiloh wants to be a boy. Shiloh with her uncut girly hair, clutching dolls, sometimes dressed as a boy and sometimes dressed in neutral colors and the rare dresses was at an obvious age to the public where people knew she could not decide to cut her hair off, dye it and only want to dress as a boy. But if Angelina did enjoy expressing her Tomboy fashion and Tomboy look with Shiloh. At Shilohs age now. People know children can develop a sense of identity, a sense of style and a sense of what they like. And Angelina can just say Shiloh wants to be a boy to the public. And at the age Shiloh is now alot of people would think Angelina's Daughter, Shiloh wants to be a boy. And that Angelina, accepted Shiloh's choice to be boy, in doing the right thing, by cutting Shilohs hair and dressing Shiloh as a boy, so that Shiloh can be free to express herself as a boy. Alot of people would think Shilohs cut hair had darkened naturally. But the Hair is similar to Knox's hair color, Shiloh looks like her Brother Knox now.
People keep saying "why no marriage?" Are you serious. It's obvious. It's the $$$. They don't want to have to divide it and share it with divorce lawyers. And this way Angie can still f**K everyone in hollywood :)
Angelina seems like one of those ladies who thinks she is too good to have female friends. I mean, when do you ever see her hang out with other women. That's a bad place to be. 30 years from now you'll be alone b/c Brad ran off with the nanny.

Precisely what I said approximately 2 pages back. Obviously, we're on the same page. Hopefully she'll develop into a happy, healthy well adjusted woman.
The problem in early childhood is that a child can eventually have a problem distinguishing "pretend" from "real." Some children want to be dogs or cats and this is fine as long as they're being reminded at points throughout the day that they are human beings and that they are loved and wonderful human beings. The same goes for gender. Shiloh can want to be a boy, "pretend" she is a boy as long as someone throughout the day reminds her that she is a wonderful, loved, precious girl.
I notice how she never mentions the Pax kid it's like she she hasn't bonded with him or is fond....it's always about the other three... She wants shiloh to be another her.... she styled mattox hair like her ex g/f that was strange and with "Z" i know that it was from her heart to adpot her but just because she's African doesn't mean she has to be a "DIVA" she's trying so hard to ingrate the personalties early.
