Blue Ivy Carter's Debut: Beyonce "Really Wanted to Do It This Way"

On Friday night, Beyonce and Jay-Z surprised everyone -- revealing five heart-melting photos, the first ever, of daughter Blue Ivy Carter on a brand-new tumblr site.

Celeb stylist June Ambrose is pals with Beyonce, 30, and Jay-Z, 42, and met little Blue weeks ago. "I couldn't say a word," she told Us Weekly at the Mara Hoffman fashion show at NYC's Lincoln Center Saturday. But the superstar couple thought carefully about sharing the hugely-anticipated first snapshots. "B really really thought about this," Ambrose said, "and she really wanted to do it this way."

"She just couldn't imagine selling pictures of her baby," Ambrose added of the pics, which would have fetched a huge price tag. "It just felt really good to see her do it under her terms. It doesn't surprise me."
Little Blue, meanwhile, is "a princess," Ambrose gushed. "She's definitely very alert, you can see from the photos, you feel like she's been here before...she's always in a loving environment, and you can see that she's born into greatness. I think that's what those photos really say. She's a good baby!"

And as cute as the photos suggest, she added. "A girl with big full lips, she'll be a supermodel, I can't wait! And her eyes -- she's gorgeous!"
And Jay-Z and Beyonce are settling into parenthood beautifully, too, she noted. "They're great. They were so good, before having this baby, when they were with children. I never thought for once it would be difficult. They're grounded."

27I read they were offered up to $14 million for the photos of the baby and turned them down b/c they wanted to reveal her on their own terms. I think that's cool ALTHOUGH I also see nothing wrong with stars like Brad/Angie who take the $$ and then donate it to charity..that's cool too in my opinion.

i think this show's how much Beyonce has grown with this pregnancy & having a child. It's really sweet to see.
I think she made a great choice doing it this way... on Their terms and not to the highest bidder. She is SO beautiful, what light in those tiny eyes. But I LOVE the picture of Daddy, big "ole, tough Jay Z, and this tiny delicate little sweetheart curled up in his arms! THAT picture speaks volumes... Daddy's and their little girls are a powerful combo!

Lovely. Lots of cute babies are as alert at birth and are alert at other times, like Blue Ivy is. Blue Ivy is so very cute. All of my children were alert newborns, my 1st looked upwards at birth, my son turned and looked at the camera and me, when I called his name on his date of birth. My 2nd followed people with her eyes. My 3rd daughter she looked around the whole room, while laying across the other side of the room, after her birth, then from across the room she watched me, when I took a picture of her with her eyes closed. She then opened her eyes and looked at the camera, she listened to nurses in the background talk to each other with her eyes wide open.

I find it funny the day after Michelle and Kelly in the spotlight, she just decides to release photos. Jealous attention wh0re much?
I am thinking how nice it would have been if I could've had a make-up artist and hair stylist ready to work their magic just minutes after I gave birth.
I totally respect the way the did it.. the paparazzi was going to be hunting them like dogs in heat to get the first pics. and they didn't sell it to the highest bidder. you can't please everyone i see how a lot of these celebrities act and carry themselves Beyonce carry's herself quite well but then again people flock to stand up for Charlie Sheen in the society.
