The circle of life. Duncan Jones and his wife, Rodene Ronquillo, welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, on July 10, exactly six months after Jones’ dad David Bowie’s death.
The Moon director, 45, announced the exciting news via Twitter on Friday, July 29, alongside a funny cartoon of the new family of three.
“Stanton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his granddad made room for him,” Jones wrote. “Love you both so.”

He also shared a sweet message to his wife, writing, “All my love and awe to the incredible @rodeneronquillo who made a human being in her belly. Warrior woman & every day, my hero.”
The film producer and his photographer love announced in February that they were expecting a little bundle of joy. “1 month since dad died.… Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad,” he wrote at the time.
The legendary singer passed away following an 18-month battle with cancer on January 10, 2016, at the age of 69, leaving behind his wife, Iman, and their 15-year-old daughter, Alexandria.
Jones — who is Bowie’s son with first wife Angie Bowie — and Ronquillo married in November 2012, the same day that she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“On November 4th, my beautiful fiancé @rodeneronquillo & I were frisking about in bed, as you do. I am a boob man & found… A lump,” he tweeted in December. “It was a Sunday, so we had to wait to get an appointment to have the lump biopsied but by Wednesday, we had an answer. Cancer. Stage 2. We were a little overwhelmed by the news: cancer & Election Day, so decided to make it a set, ran down to the courthouse & got married! So cancer, election, marriage. All on one day!”
Ronquillo’s cancer was in the clear by October 2013, just six months before Bowie was diagnosed.
