Proud five-time aunt! After a few days off from Twitter — during which TLC canceled her family’s reality show, 19 Kids and Counting — Jessa Duggar made a joyful return to the social media site on Sunday, July 19, sharing a photo of brother Josh Duggar‘s newborn daughter, whom he welcomed with wife Anna over the weekend.
“My beautiful niece!” Jessa, 22, captioned the photo, which shows the sleeping baby swaddled in a white blanket. “So excited to welcome little Meredith Grace Duggar into the world!”
Meredith — who weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches at birth — joins Josh and Anna’s three older children, Mackynzie, 5, Michael, 4, and Marcus, 2. Jessa is also aunt to sister Jill Duggar‘s son Israel, her only child with husband Derick Dillard.
The little ones will soon have even more company in the form of Jessa’s firstborn, whom she and husband Ben Seewald will welcome later this year. Jessa’s baby will be the sixth grandchild for Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, who have 19 kids of their own.
The family’s baby boom comes amid an eventful few months. Back in May, news broke that Josh had “inappropriately touched” five young girls, including four of his sisters, when he was a teenager. The scandal caused advertisers to pull their support from 19 Kids and Counting, which was finally canceled by TLC on July 16.
“Years ago, when we were asked to film our first one hour documentary about the logistics of raising 14 children, we felt that it was an opportunity to share with the world that children are a blessing and a gift from God,” Jim Bob and Michelle said in a statement after the cancellation. “We appreciate the love, support, prayers, and kindness extended to us by many of you. You have deeply touched our hearts and encouraged us, during this time.”
