Middleton, who is pregnant with the couple's second child and only recently made her first appearance since suffering from severe morning sickness, "is doing a lot better," the source adds, as she endured the one hour flight from Heathrow Airport to Aberdeen Airport, which is the nearest stop to their destination Balmoral Castle, Queen Elizabeth's home in Scotland.

"William wanted to take Kate away for a break after her [rough past couple of months]," the insider close to the couple tells Us, adding that the couple usually go to Balmoral earlier in the year when the Queen is in residence. "They both love the outdoors and the weather isn't too cold yet, so it's the perfect time to take a trip."

And while the couple are using the trip for a little R&R ahead of the arrival of their second child, the source adds they couldn't be happier to bring along little George. "It's great that George is now at an age where he can travel," the insider says.
