The best red carpet accessory! Pregnant Kerry Washington had plenty to celebrate on Feb. 22. The Scandal star first attended the 45th Annual NAACP Awards in a stunning floor-length blue Thakoon dress with a peach-colored accent.
Expertly dressing her growing baby bump, Washington, 37, looked confident and fierce with a perfectly groomed fishtail braid cascading down her shoulder.
And she had good reason to rock the bold look. For her role as government fixer Olivia Pope, Washington took home the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series award. Actor Joe Morton, who plays her on-screen father, snagged the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series role, and the ABC thriller won the coveted Outstanding Drama Series award.
The cast quickly rushed to their next award show -- the 2014 Costume Designers Guild Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, where Washington's costar Josh Malina was the host for the event and Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo was nominated for her work on the show.
Paolo happily talked about Scandal's lead star to Us Weekly, noting, "Kerry is fascinated by fashion of every kind, but when we talk about the fashion on the show, we talk about it in an abstract. So it’s not about fashion it’s about making an actor feel comfortable in the skin of another person."
