Kelly Preston's mom, Linda Carlson, tells UsMagazine.com she "burst into tears" when she heard her daughter was pregnant with her third child at age 47.

"I cried so hard I couldn't see straight, just bawled my eyes out," she said. "Because I've been so worried about her!  When they're that unhappy. I could cry right now remembering."

Preston and her husband John Travolta, 56, lost their son, Jett, after he suffered a seizure in January 2009. (They are also parents to 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.) They were then extorted by the Bahamian paramedics who first responded to the call.

Carlson says the new addition will know all about Jett.

"He'll see the pictures and he'll be told stories. He or she, whatever," said Carlson. "It couldn't come at a better time. Her aura is so filled with peace. It's changed their lives."

Carlson admits her daughter and Travolta have "been through so much. Not only losing Jett but those godawful horrible men trying to extort them! Unbelievable. It was awful on them, they were grieving so badly. They do weather it, but holy cow, such grief. John was devastated, just devastated."

Continued Carlson, "We are over the moon I've been praying that this would happen.  Especially since Jett's death.  Anything to get them out of their sorrow. I know Kelly has been longing for another baby. She just loves babies! So do I. I just can't wait for this child to arrive. It's taken them out of such deep grief and made them able to focus on new life. It just couldn't come at a better time."

She says Preston's pregnancy was a "surprise" even though they had "been trying."

Preston announced the news at a family lunch shortly after her brother, Chris, revealed he was engaged.

"She just said 'I'm pregnant!' and it just spilled out," Carlson recalled. "And I burst into tears and I had to go over and just embrace her. I was so thrilled I couldn't see straight."

And Preston is shrugging off pregnancy complications due to her age.

"She's not worried about it at all. She's not concerned," Carlson said. "She takes really good care of herself and she's in good health. She looks so much younger."

I am so completely disgusted by all the sick comments that I may actually throw up. I will never understand why God lets some of you even live on this earth. To say they were bad parents because their child DIED is SICK SICK SICK !!! They LOVED Jett.... ADORED him !!! And to say that John is gay and their marriage is a sham is slander and every one of you spreading these malicious rumors should be brought up on charges !!! There's a place in hell reserved for all of you.

Kelly's age was a problem from the beginning...She should it stay home until she was , at least 6 months....and not riding a plane and going to long trips like Brazil...it's too much pressure ...but they will try again and she won't announce it until much later.! Good luck....

I wish John and Kelly the best. I dislike the Scientology teachings and I don't agree with "trying" to get pregnant at Kelly's age, but whateva. At least the Travoltas appear to be a respectable loving couple, unlike many of Hollywood's famous.

  • July 02, 2010 - 9:49am huh???

NYC-I'm sick of this John Travolta is gay bulls@%$. Don't you think someone would have come forward by now if that were true? There is no proof of that so why do you think so? It's sad that there's such a narrow, limited idea of masculinity and femininity. Just because you might be doesn't mean everyone else is.

Ok guys, I just spent like 40 minutes reading the comments in here and you all should be ashamed of yourselves.None of you know the Travoltas personally. If Jihn is gay, and Kelly married him, so what. A choice she made. While I might find Scientology distasteful, this country is founded on freedom of religion. In everythign thay I've read about Jett, including the day e died, it appeared the Travoltas did everything they could to save him. their nannies and compaions for their son were all trsained to deal with Jett's seizures, as well as John and Kelly themselves. Tragically, Jett coild not be saved. Now, 3 yrs later, Kelly is pregnant. Congrats and goof luck to them as they navigate what is sure to be a difficult pregnancy.

It is well known in NY and Los Angeles that John Travolta is gay. The entertainment media should be ashamed of themselves for playing along by reporting the happily married couple nonsense when they know full well that John and Kelly donâ??t even sleep in the same bedroom and that their marriage is a sham. Personally, I donâ??t give a damn about Johnâ??s sexuality, but I do care that the entertainment media is deceiving the public, playing along with their sham marriage. Should the entertainment media out John? Absolutely not. But at the same time, they shouldnâ??t proactively write all these articles about the â??happy marriageâ??, â??happy coupleâ??, etc. These publications have no journalistic integrity and should be ashamed.

I would have lost the bet if anyone told me Kelly Preston was 47! She doesn't look a day over 40! I think she'll be fine, since she takes care of herself. I wish them all the luck in the world.

I am so happy to hear that John Travolta and Kelly Preston are having another child I hope this new child ease their pain of losing their son Jett. Of course they will never forget him but I hope it makes their grief a little easier to handle.

Mrs Pfc. Boyd, why pay so much attention to that comment? Could it be because it's true? You could have let it roll off your back, but of course you chose not to. You are pathetic. Good luck with your autistic child. May you take better care of him than the Travoltas took care of Jett.

June 09, 2010 - 4:30pm Very Disgusted Says:++++ Yeah I'm the pathetic one when I'm not saying someone should have a miscarriage or saying that they grieved to long b/c they are rich and that "normal working folk" only grieve 2 weeks then are no longer grieving. Yeah sure I'm the pathetic one. If by thinking that a child is a blessing and they should be congratulated or thinking that they can grieve as long as they want to for their loss then by all mean I'm "pathetic" (insert eye-roll here).

  • June 09, 2010 - 4:30pm Very Disgusted

Mrs. Pfc. Boyd: You are a pathetic excuse of a human being with your opinions. You make me sick with your disgusting comments about other posters. It doesn't feel good to be spoken to that way does it? You're pure scum.

Mimi is right. The truth hurts but there it is.

My sympathy lies with Jett Travolta whose parents lied throughout his whole life that what he suffered from was Kawasaki's disease and that he had been cured by undergoing Scientology's purification rundown. I would ask before any of you respond to my message that you google Kawasaki's disease and see the awful symptoms of this syndrome. Then google the purification rundown and check out what someone goes through in one of these rundowns. Then come back here and tell everyone what you think of that particular course of treatment for Kawasaki's. Yes, my sympathies lie with Jett. An autistic child who also suffered from epilepsy and was denied any schooling or treatment for either condition other than trying one seizure medication that seemed to work for a while, but then stopped. Have any of you ever seen a grand mal seizure? Jett suffered grand mal seizures on a regular basis. Do any of you realize that John's brother Joey graduated from college as a special education teacher? And that Joey has devoted much of his life in recent years to helping autistic children? The Travolta-Preston's could have reached out discreetly to John's own brother for guidance in helping their son and didn't because of their ties to Scientology. I hope and pray with all my heart that the Travolta-Preston's new baby is healthy.

@Ben I can not believe you just said that "working people only grieve for a week or two". seriously? You REALLY think that? Just b/c they are REQUIRED to return to work after a week does NOT mean that they are finished grieving! Rich people can afford to take a year or whatever they choose off work b/c they have the money survive on! Us "normal" people who are not rich MUST work to survive and pay bills etc... Our jobs only give us a week, 2 at the max to grieve then we must return to work! That does not mean in ANY way that they are not still grieving for their loss! They didn't "close doors on the world for a year" they were still in the public eye just NOT nearly as much! They were taking a break from working to grieve and they have enough money to live on if they wanted to take the rest of their lives off work! It is THEIR CHOICE to take a year off work! It's not like they quit working and were on government assistance making the tax payers foot the bill! I think you are a very ignorant person! It is very sad that you think that they should not be grieving for their loss after a year! You are a very pathetic excuse for a human being!

  • June 09, 2010 - 1:38pm Ben

I am very sorry theylost their son but Rich people just get everything they want, lose one kid replace it with another. Why were they grieving so much, their religious beliefs should have gotten them through this. So many people lose loved ones (Mike Tyson) and don't close the doors on the world for over a year. Working people only grieve for a week or two.

    ** a little LESS...my typo!

  • June 09, 2010 - 1:23pm NIGHTNURSE

Mimi cares a little too much about John Travolta's life. none of us know the truth except the Travoltas. You should care about your own life a little more, and theirs a little left.

  • June 09, 2010 - 12:53pm tam

I can't believe how mean some people are being. Why do you care so much? They're not paying my bills, so I don't care what they do. If they want to be scientologists (a cult in every sense of the word) so be it. It doesn't change my life at all. To state that you know all about their "mating habits" is pretty pathetic. Are you in the room? Don't have a heart attack over people you don't even know.

  • June 09, 2010 - 11:33am jamie

they are good parents and never deserved what happened since loosing a child is horrific. I think great parents like these we need more parents like. It people like the cyrus parents that should of never conceived.

  • June 09, 2010 - 11:32am jamie

GOOD LUCK TO THEM... BEST WISHES FOR A HEALTHY BABY!
