John Travolta

John Travolta is an actor, producer and singer best known for his starring roles in Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Pulp Fiction. Travolta spent his early years in Englewood, New Jersey, where he was raised in a family with strong ties to the performing arts. He attended Dwight Morrow High School but dropped out before graduating to pursue an acting career in New York.

Travolta began his career on stage before earning television recognition as Vinnie Barbarino on Welcome Back, Kotter. He became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars with back-to-back box office hits Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Grease (1978), both of which cemented his status as a leading man. After a career slowdown in the 1980s, he made a widely celebrated comeback with Pulp Fiction (1994), earning renewed critical acclaim and launching another successful chapter of his career.

Among Travolta’s most notable credits are Carrie (1976) , Urban Cowboy (1980), Look Who’s Talking (1989), Get Shorty (1995), The General’s Daughter (1999), Hairspray (2007) and American Crime Story. Throughout his career, he has received two Academy Award nominations, as well as multiple Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. In 1995, he was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his performance in Get Shorty.

Travolta married actress Kelly Preston in September 1991, and they remained together until her death in July 2020 following her private battle with breast cancer. The couple welcomed three children: Jett Travolta (1992–2009), Ella Bleu Travolta (born in 2000) and Benjamin Travolta (born in 2010). Following Preston’s death, Travolta has continued to honor her memory publicly while raising their two surviving children.
