Why the tea party theme? "I kind of like to girl it up!" mom Katie Holmes, 32, explained two weeks ago. "This is my favorite day of the year."

The birthday girl made a few requests of her own, too.
"She wants a pinata and her girlfriends to come over [to go] swimming," The Kennedys star said. "We're gonna make a cake together!"

33I think people hate this because she is a kid like all others, no better and no worse than the rest, yet the press kiss her @$$ for being the daughter of people who happen to be rich and famous for entertaining us. As a mother, it is a little sickening to me to see how some kids have it all while others have next to nothing, and it really isn't fair...for the kids. But I don't see how adults can hate her because of that. I think it's sickening to spend that much money on things like purses, but that's because I can barely feed my kids, let alone buy them clothes when they need them! But she is a beautiful child, and obviously well mannered, at least from what we can see. I think it's normal to be envious of her situation when we would all love to be able to give our kids that kind of life. I usually choose not to read about it, and then I don't compare...it's too depressing to compare.

What's wrong w/her having a tea party for her b-day. Nothing looks wrong in this picture... Everyone is so ready to attack Tom and his wife. But the Jolie-Pitt kids are just as messed up yet the world is fine w/it. Skeletal Jolie lets her boys play w/toy guns and her kids probably don't even go to school the way they're traveling so much but no one says anythin about these people...so back off..leave tom and Katie alone... People only pick on the nice ones... Yes, Tom's religion may be different but he's a nice guy..always smiling and humble not like other celebs...

@Joan..the grass looks fake because it is expensive grass seeding and well manicured. She is five years old people. Stop hatin! The only reason she is annoying is because she is on the front page for having a bday party and because of who her parents are. Her parents have the money to keep up with whatever expensive habits that she has. Stop being jealous and focus your energy on getting a better job so that you can give your kids more in life.
I think all kids are cute, but for some reason, this is the most annoying kid EVER. She is a spoiled little brat, and for some reason,this kid is irritating.
Lucky little girl! I think it would be really cool to be able to give our little princess that kind of life once in a while as well. My husband and I can only afford a few new toys now and then and never anything extravagant. But you know something, she is a perfectly happy and well mannered little 4 yr old girl. We give her lots of hugs, kisses, love and deserved praise. She is not spoiled and does not think the world is her oyster. I am not knocking Suri (she's only 5!) or her parents. They have it to give, they give. Do they go to the extreme sometimes? Oh yeah. But I am not one to judge others unless the child is being physically, mentally or emotionally harmed. Everyone, rich or poor, man or woman, are all on our own life path. We are here to learn to be better people and therefore better souls. My husband and I are so proud of our little one and love her endlessly. That is all she REALLY needs. I do wish 5 yr old Suri THE HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS though!!

Suri Cruise may be well-behaved and a sweet child right now, but as she gets older, she will continue to expect more and more expensive things as part of her lavish lifestyle. She could very easily grow up as vapid and useless as Paris Hilton. THAT'S the problem with Suri. NO child needs nor can appreciate an $850 designer purse. She should be treated like a child, not a tiny adult. Suri has a very small chance of being a normal adult, and it's all her parents' fault.
Most anything I have heard about Suris behavior, she seems to be well behaved.

Katie Holmes' comment "I kind of like to girl it up!" indicates to me that she sees this kid as a little doll - not a real child. While it's not the kid's fault that her parents may see her that way, it's going to lead to major personality problems for Suri, if it hasn't already. Tom and Katie aren't doing her any favors by treating her this way, if that's how they're thinking.
I think it is a total waste of money, whether an adult or a child. But, it's their money. They can spend it as they wish. They probably do donate a large amount to charities. But, that's their business.
If she is this age and that spoiled. What is going to happen, when she gets much older like in her teens. I'm afraid to ask.
