Suri Cruise isn't schlepping around the Big Apple like some ordinary child. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's stylish daughter stepped out during NYC's Fashion Week Friday wearing bright red lipstick, an adorable blue dress and a sophisticated pink bowler hat.

This isn't Suri's first time playing around with cosmetics. She's ventured into Sephora with Holmes, 32, on several occasions.

Fortunately Suri's doting dad, 49, approves of her love of makeup and high-fashion clothing. "Whatever she wants to wear, she wears it," the actor told Oprah Winfrey in 2010. "I'm not going to tell her different."

I have two daughters and they were aloud to wear makeup when they were teenagers and not before. i was raised with the understanding that makeup is only for women and not children..
This is nothing. I see kids around here with pink hair and really ridiculous looks, and they are just starting school.

She is a very hands on Mother, I like her, and Suri is adorable. I always felt only children sometimes are lonely, and in her case it seems her only friends are adults.
I don't feel Katie uses Suri at all for attention, I think Jolie does for sure.
I think the celebrities should really protect their kids against this media frenzy. I love seeing the pictures of the celebrities with their kids, Jeniffer Garner, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Ashley Simpson, Kate Hudson, etc, they don't try so hard to get the attention from the papps on the kid than the parent. Gosh, have you ever seen Tom's teenager kids in the news tabloid, I have no idea how Isabella looks, or Connor. Tom and Nicole never used their kids to gather attention from the press. The celebrity and their kids on the tabloid seem hardly posed. But Suri here AND Kate, they are out there to get the attention. When Tom goes out with Suri and the papps take their picture, you DON'T see Suri made up or wearing adult clothes or dresses, she looks like a child when she is with Tom.
i dont see the problem here... i see exactly what was expected, over-reaction to a child who already attracts far too much attention to be a "normal" kid anymore... leave her alone for cryin out loud!

Katie Holmes uses Suri as a prop to get paparrazi attention. Heaven knows that without her she's got zero interest from the press. Failed actress, failing mother. Suri is going to be a spoiled brat when she hits her teen years.
@Rebecca Christiansen. no, other posts have said that's why there are pedophiles, because of the way kids dress, i've never seen this child in a "skimpy" outfit. i don't believe you truly have any basis for this. from most of your posts, i think this is just a way for you to bash on scientology (don't get me wrong, i think it's a load of crap), but bashing on the way a child is raised, who seems happy and has very involved parents (she's ALWAYS seen with her mom), simply because you don't like their religion is wrong. @Emma Brown, yeah she's going to be a junky. what is your basis for this? how is she a monster of a brat? kaite's co-stars have said she's such a sweet child and that she behaves very well on set, as have her gymnastics instructors. so what leads you to believe this?

I don't even know where to start. Letting your 5 yr old wear red lipstick, fur coats, buy makeup is totally age inappropriate. Bad parenting. What is wrong with Katie Holmes? How could Tom Cruise allow this to happen? Again bad parenting. Katie is raising her daughter to be a spoiled brat. What a shame. Also allowing her to wear high heels is silly. She has no siblings so this playing dress up, fills her time. If she did this every day, I would be concerned, but I don't see her wearing red lipstick every day.
Isn't it nice that everyone indulges their children...no wonder this new generation is full of incredibly self-involved kids, your parents wanted to be your friend - not your parent. There is such a thing as being age- appropriate. For crying out loud, this is how problems start ok? And Karen, please no one is blaming the child - she is being allowed to do whatever she wants through some mis-guided precepts dictated by the Scientology church. It is sad. But no one is blaming the child, everyone is blaming the parents...and not just Katie Holmes and her husband..I would go ahead and blame the other parents who evidently think everything is ...okay because its just self-expression. Man, I wish I had parents like you when I was growing up. My Mom and Dad didn't care about being my friend, that was made clear when they would punish me for sneaking out after curfew or wearing lipstick before I graduated from middle school. Sorry ladies, but indulging kids at every turn is just not the way to raise a child. Can we name anyone who has made that transition successfully??
this is not a big deal. i can't believe some of these posts, implying that it is somehow a childs fault that there are sick pedophiles, some people are so sick, it's NEVER a child's fault NO MATTER WHAT THEY DRESS LIKE, children are innocent, and they should not be held accountable for the disgusting nature of other people. this looks to me like a beautiful little girl, who's happy, most of the pictures i see of her are of her out with her mom, having a good time. i highly doubt a little lipstick and half-inch heels are going to damage her for the rest of her life to the point to where she's going to be in therapy and cause her to have a baby when she's 15, like some of the people on here believe, that's just dumb
