Tia Mowry on Post-Baby Weight Loss: My Role Model Is Hilary Duff
Tia Mowry has a mommy-friend crush! Speaking to Us Weekly at Essence's Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon on Feb. 21 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Sister, Sister star, who has an 18-month-old son, Cree, with husband Cory Hardrict, said her role model when it comes to post-baby weight loss is Hilary Duff!
"I remember when I had my baby. I was looking at everybody like 'Damn, how are they on the beach after two months in a bikini? What the hell are they doing?' " the 34-year-old actress said. "I went to my OB because I thought something was wrong with me, because that's all I would see! And she said, 'No, honey, that's fine.' "
"There's a lot of pressure, especially when you see people like Claire Danes and Megan Fox," chimed in twin sister Tamera Mowry.
"Hilary Duff is someone that I looked up to," continued Tia. Fellow former child star Duff, mom to 11-month-old Luca, has talked openly about her problems losing the pregnancy pounds. The 25-year-old actress told Us in June, "I think if you ask any pregnant mom, they're like 'I want my body back,' but it takes time. It takes nine months for your body to get that way and it's putting on that weight on purpose."
Tamera, who gave birth just two months ago to son Aden, is following in sister Tia's footsteps and aiming for a slow and steady post-baby weight loss. "At first you're shocked. You're like, 'My body's completely different.' Your boobs are in your face, you have stretch marks, you have curves that you never had before…. My husband said, 'Happy girls are pretty girls,' and he keeps telling me that. Enjoy the phase that you're in. I'm enjoying it!"
