Bindi Irwin’s Loving Tribute to Her Dad for Steve Irwin Day

So sweet. Bindi Irwin shared a heartfelt, touching tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin, on Instagram for Steve Irwin Day on Sunday, Nov. 15.

“The greatest dad on Earth,” the Dancing With the Stars contestant, 17, captioned the pic of her father holding a crocodile. “November 15. Steve Irwin Day. “Remembering everything Dad worked so hard to achieve and continue his legacy. We miss you so much and are extremely proud to be carrying on in your footsteps. Yesterday we celebrated #SteveIrwinDay in Australia. Today, let’s celebrate together on the other side of the world, today on November 15. Thank you for joining us in making a difference. Wearing our khakis and remember everything Dad did to change the world.”

The photo of her father — who died in 2006 at the age of 44 after being stung in the chest by a stingray while on assignment — features the Crocodile Hunter smiling, looking happy with a crocodile.

Derek Hough, Bindi’s dance partner on Dancing With the Stars, also paid his respects to the late conservationist on Saturday, Nov. 14.

“It’s officially #SteveIrwinDay in Australia,” the dancer, 30, captioned the sweet snap of Bindi dressed as a fairy princess on her dad’s shoulders, who is holding a crocodile. “He will always be remembered. #legend #wildlifewarrior @bindisueirwin #teamcrikey4life”

Bindi spoke to Us Weekly last month about her father backstage on the set of the hit ABC reality competition show, where she sweetly reminisced about his lack of dance moves.

“My mom told me he didn’t even dance at their wedding,” she said. “Dad was not known for dancing. Dad was known for a lot of things but dancing was not one of them!

The sweet Instagram snap comes a day after the teen shared a sweet photo of her longtime boyfriend, Chandler Powell, for his 19th birthday.

“Happy birthday to a person who inspires me every day,” the young actress and conservationist captioned the pic of herself smiling, being carried by Powell. “A soul who makes me smile no matter where I am in the world, despite any amount of distance. Thank you for the endless hugs, late night conversations about life, holding my hand when a loud noise scares me and laughing along. I’m blessed to be a part of your world.”
