Blake Shelton will no doubt bring his A-game to the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 12, given that he’ll be kicking off the show with some pretty impressive talents: Selena Gomez, last year’s host Nick Jonas and Star Wars’ furriest cast member, Chewbacca.

Shelton, 39, is set to open the show with the trio, and a source tell Us that the hosting gig was actually Blake’s idea in the first place.

“He thought it would be a really fun thing, and they’d never had anyone like Blake do it, so his team suggested it,” the insider tells Us. “He’s pretty excited about it, but Gwen’s kids are REALLY excited. They adore Blake and are obsessed with the fact he’s hosting Kids’ Choice Awards and that he’s going to be in the Angry Birds movie/do the theme song. They think he’s so cool!”

Stefani, 46, is the mom of sons Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2.

The pair have been happily spending time together as a family whenever possible, though both have been busy with their own personal projects.

Shelton released his new single, "Came Here to Forget,” on Tuesday, March 8, and Stefani dropped her new song “Misery” two days later.

“I got so used to being 'round you boy / I’m trying not to care, but where’d you go? / I’m doing my best to be sensible / I’m trying not to care,” she sings on the catchy track. “You’re like drugs, you’re like drugs to me / I’m so into you totally.”

The No Doubt singer’s third solo album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, is set to drop on March 18.

“[He] had been going through literally the exact same thing in literally the exact same time frame," Stefani told The New York Times about the timing of their relationship. (The pair exclusively confirmed their romance to Us in November.)

“It’s almost like one of those movies where they discover they have magic,” Stefani said of being inspired to write new music after finding love with Shelton. “When I was able to first write a song, that’s when I found my whole self.”
