Candy Spelling Denies Dean McDermott’s Claims She Hasn’t Helped Out Tori Spelling’s Family Financially

Candy Spelling lashed out against Dean McDermott after his claims that she hasn't helped out the family financially.

Not-so-True Tori! Candy Spelling spoke out in the wake of her son-in-law Dean McDermott’s claims that she hasn’t helped out her daughter Tori Spelling or their family financially. In a Nov. 5 interview with Access Hollywood, McDermott, 47, said he was quitting the reality show True Tori, talked of contemplating suicide, and noted that his mother-in-law had not supported his family.

Noting that he sees Candy, 69, about eight times a year (her husband, producer Aaron Spelling, died in 2006), McDermott was asked whether his in-law has shared any of her late husband’s estate with Tori or the family.

“In my recovery, all I can be is honest and no. No. There’s no financial help,” McDermott noted.

The Spelling family’s massive estate, also known as the Spelling Manor, is the stuff of legends, featuring a bowling alley, an entire floor of closets, and a parking lot that accommodates up to 100 vehicles. Candy’s late husband Aaron Spelling was a well-known producer on hit shows Beverly Hills, 90210, Charmed, and 7th Heaven. But Candy is lashing back against McDermott’s claims in a new statement to Access Hollywood

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are working on their marriage after the news of McDermott’s affair broke in December 2013.

“Candy has provided financial help in the past and has offered repeatedly to pay for the children’s private schooling and Tori has never told her where to send the money,” her rep told Access Hollywood.

The grandmother to Tori and Dean’s four kids also wants to spend more time with her grandchildren, with her rep adding, “Candy reaches out often to see them and unfortunately Tori and Dean are not often responsive.”

Candy’s daughter, 41, has yet to speak out about the controversy on social media or in a statement. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum has been working on her marriage to the Chopped Canada host since last December when Us Weekly broke the news of McDermott’s one-night stand with a woman named Emily Goodhand

“I hold out a lot of hope,” McDermott said of his future with Spelling. “If you don’t have hope what do you have? I love this woman, regardless of what I’ve done. I love her and want to be with her. I want to grow old with her at this moment she feels the exact same way.”
