Red carpet prankster Vitalii Sediuk made headlines again on Wednesday, May 28, when he attacked Brad Pitt at the L.A. premiere of Maleficent, a move the 25-year-old journalist's now former publicist tells Us Weekly "shocked" and "surprised" her.
"I never knew about [the pranks] happening," Christa Scherck tells Us exclusively of Sediuk, who has harassed everyone from America Ferrera (he crawled up her dress at Cannes) to Will Smith (whom he tried to kiss last year at the Men in Black 3 premiere). "I am just as surprised as anyone, when it happens. Nothing is pre-planned, he doesn't tell me,” says Scherck, who finally dropped him as a client on Thursday.
Scherck goes on to tell Us Sediuk "always told me he doesn't want to be known for pranking." But pranking is what landed him in jail on May 28, after jumping a barrier and reportedly punching Pitt in the face.
"Last night, when I saw the headline—'assault, violent scuffle'—it's just not fair to my other clients," Scherck explains. "When someone's behavior is out of control … that's not fair to me when I'm making comments and fielding requests, that's just not fair."
Scherck, who "hasn't had any contact with him since the arrest," adds, however, "I am in shock that that happened because he [was] saying how he wanted to cool off."
Despite his actions, Scherck insists he's "not a violent person," but admits, "It's apparent he has real issues that need to be dealt with."
Scherck adds, "I can assure you that he does not have a drug problem. He is a clean guy. He is so innocent. He is not a pervert either, by the way. He's handsome, very ambitious, [and] he works his butt off."
As of Thursday afternoon, May 29, Sediuk was being arraigned by LAPD.
