Chelsea Handler is not known for holding back. As she promotes her new Netflix docuseries, Chelsea Does, the comedian, 40, is often asked about her late-night past.
In a new interview with Variety, Handler, the host of E!’s Chelsea Lately from 2007 through 2014, was asked about her worst celebrity guest of all time.
“Oh, there’s so many,” she responded. “I can’t decide.”
Finally, she landed on one particularly icky culprit.
“I mean, Justin Bieber maybe? ‘Cause he was trying to flirt with me, and it was so uncomfortable,” she recalls. “Like, that’s his schtick. He would come on and flirt with you, and you just felt like a child molester right away.”
The “Sorry” singer, now 21, appeared on Handler’s show a handful of times during its seven-year run. In 2011, when the singer was 16, the pair even spent Valentine’s Day together, and the Biebs planted a big kiss on Handler’s cheek.
As for her new show, Handler is venturing far away from the late-night, star-studded feel and exploring topics close to her heart.
“There will be celebrities, but not, like, celebrity-centric,” she told Variety. “I want it to be more well-rounded. I want to talk about everything. It’s not going to be one thing. If you’re not compelled with what you’re doing, it’s so transparent and everybody is so annoyed by you.”
