Emmy winning producer Andre Salaman Bautista, also known as Andre Bauth, was charged on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with attempted murder after stabbing his roommate -- get the bizarre details here.

Daytime Emmy-winning producer Andre Salaman Bautista was charged with stabbing his actor roommate, Clayton Haymes, following a bizarre altercation about whether he could win Oscars, L.A.'s local CBS affiliate reported on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Bautista, 36, who won an Emmy as one of the producers of the online soap opera The Bay, allegedly stabbed Haymes, 23, with a kitchen knife inside their Studio City home on Sept. 8.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Bautista (also known as Andre Bauth) pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He surrendered last Thursday to authorities at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, L.A.'s NBC News affiliate reported on Tuesday, Sept. 22. His bail has been set at $550,000.

Haymes, meanwhile, spoke to CBS2 about the incident, and what triggered it. At the time, Bautista was allegedly boasting that he could win five Oscars in his career.

“When he said ‘five Oscars,’ we all kind of laughed a little bit, and he got really upset,” Haymes recalled. “I was terrified for my life. I’m just happy to be alive.”

If convicted, Bautista could face up to 13 years in prison.
