Gwyneth Paltrow says the darnedest things! The Goop founder and Thanks For Sharing actress opened up to fashion website Refinery 29 in a recent interview and revealed that for her, neither infidelity nor sex addiction would be deal-breakers for her in a relationship.
“I’m an extremely open-minded person, so I think if it was something I knew I was getting myself into, I wouldn’t let it deter me from exploring the relationship,” she said.
In Thanks For Asking, Paltrow plays a love interest to Mark Ruffalo‘s sex addict lead. It’s the first time the pair have reunited since their 2003 romantic comedy View From the Top.
Paltrow, 40, has been married to Coldplay singer Chris Martin, 36, for 10 years — they share kids Apple, 8, and Moses, 7 — and the Oscar winner explained that the couple has developed enough trust so that something like a hypothetical infidelity wouldn’t break the marriage.
“I think that if the idea of being committed to someone is important to you, you begin to value certain parts of your social life over another,” she said. “No couple is the same, and as such, every couple takes on different challenges.”
“I would like to think that I would be forgiving and/or forgiven, but I can’t give an honest answer as I haven’t really experienced that,” the star added.
Paltrow has been frank about the realities of her home life with the musician before, however. In the June issue of Glamour U.K., the actress admitted that even she is not perfect.
“It’s hard being married,” she admitted. “You go through great times, you go through terrible times. We’re the same as any couple.”
