Out of respect for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, Heidi Klum postponed her annual Halloween bash in New York City until Saturday, Dec. 1.

"When Sandy hit and I was like, 'I cannot do a Halloween Party. I can't have fun when so many people's lives have been destroyed,'" the Project Runway host, 39, explained to Us Weekly at her haunted holiday party, sponsored by Svedka Vodka and Smartwater and benefiting the American Red Cross.(Klum's 2012 Halloween bash was going to be held Oct. 31 at NYC's Finale.)

Klum spent several hours getting her makeup done to look like Cleopatra at the star-studded soiree. "Putting the outfit on takes five minutes, but doing all these 100s of stones on my face took a little longer," she explained. "The face took a long time because they're all individually put on."

The mother of four chose to dress up as Cleopatra because "so many movies have been about her and so many actresses have played her in the movies — I thought that would be a great costume."

Klum — who's dressed as a crow, a Hindu goddess and a robot in years past — said she was excited to wear something a little sexier for her latest event.

"I thought that I was a little ugly last year, which I loved, but I always like to change it up. I don't always kind of want to look the same. I was really like, 'I couldn't be more ugly.' I called it the visible woman because you visibly could see where all the veins are and where all the muscles are," she told Us. "And then here in NYC, I was kind of like an ape. So I thought, 'Now I want something really pretty and sparkly for a change.'"
