Exclusive: Heidi Klum's Father Speaks Out on Shocking Seal Split

Gunther Klum isn't happy to say auf wiedersehen to his son-in-law Seal.
Hours after Heidi Klum and Seal announced their separation after seven years of marriage together, Us Weekly spoke with Gunther Klum, father to the supermodel and Project Runway hostess, 38.

"We are very sad," German cosmetics executive Gunther told Us via phone early Monday. He added that he needed to touch base with his newly single daughter about the shocking news.
Heidi and the "Kiss from a Rose" singer, 48, share three biological children -- Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2, plus Klum's 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, Leni, whom Seal adopted in 2009.

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart," they said in their statement, adding that the split will be an "amicable" process.
"They've had a very rough road lately," a pal told Us. "They're either madly in love or having crazy fights."

12If they can't make it after exchanging vows every year then what does it take??? I admired the two for having a beautiful family and hanging in there. I hope they get back together but the odds are against them. Look at all the work it took to make it work after 8 years.
Love Seal, love Heidi. What can I say. Fun while it lasted? I guess the change of wedding vows every year didn't do much to renew the marriage. I hope the split is peaceful and without vindictiveness.

Sad...if they are so in love, they can work through it. Growing apart can be fixed by spending time with each other...getting away from the kids and just reconnecting. If there is love from both people, you can always fix it.

so..i guess that means...your vows were as such ' for better not worse- in sickness and health- til we decide we've grown apart.' Those would be the classic vows in this day and age.
Its sad when love grows cold but sometimes, people need to move on with their lives and start afresh!!!
You love each other very much but didn't put in the effort it takes to stay together. You grew apart? That's your own faults.
hollywood thinks just cause you say your separating that oh now she is single. she and other celebs aren't single until the divorce papers are signed and finalized.
