2014 is not off to a great start for Justin Bieber. The "Heartbreaker" singer, 19, was arrested early Thursday, Jan. 23, for drag racing and DUI in Miami Beach, police told Us. (The news was also confirmed in a tweet on the official Miami Beach PD Twitter account.)

UPDATE: A police report obtained by Us Weekly states that officials smelled "an odor of alcohol emanating from the driver's breath"; it also describes Bieber as having "slow deliberate movements" and "bloodshot eyes." According to the arresting officer, the teen superstar cussed repeatedly during the pat-down and resisted arrest without violence. He was also driving with an expired Georgia license. (A rep for the singer had no comment.) See more photos of Bieber here.

The news comes on the heels of another brush with the law earlier this month. On Tuesday, Jan. 14, police searched Bieber's Calabasas, Calif., home in connection with a "felony vandalism investigation." Prior to the raid, the singer had been accused of egging a neighbor's home to the tune of a reported $20,000 in damage.

Bieber, for his part, has in the past chalked up indiscretions to his youth. "I'm young and I make mistakes. That's part of growing up. I mess up sometimes, but I learn from my mistakes," he told Us Weekly last March. "I know who I am and I'm not gonna let others' negativity toward me bring me down. I'm a positive person and I plan on staying that way...I'm not perfect, but I'm growing and trying to be better every day."

"I'm a good person and I have a big heart," he added. "I love God, and I'm grateful for the blessings he has given me. I don't plan on wasting the opportunity. At the same time, I'm young and I want to have fun. I don't think there is anything wrong with that."
