Kate Gosselin offered an update on her son Collin on Friday, November 18. The Kate Plus 8 star told Extra that Collin, who she has previously said is dealing with behavioral issues, is living away from his seven siblings and home.
“He’s chugging along,” the mom of eight said when asked about the 12-year-old sextuplet. “It’s a family experience that we are dealing the best we can with. Everyone’s got their stuff. Another bump in the road and we’re all doing the best that we can with it.”
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Kate, 41, revealed that Collin “has special needs” and that she has enrolled him in a program to help with his behavioral issues.
Kate’s ex-husband and Collin’s father, Jon, told Entertainment Tonight recently that Kate won’t tell him their son’s whereabouts. “I have an idea where he is, but I don’t really know where he is,” Jon, 39, said in an interview that aired on November 16. “I mean, I ask but she doesn’t tell me. She doesn’t answer any of my texts.”
But Kate maintains that their son is getting the help he needs.
“I am confident he is in the best hands and receiving the best of what’s being offered for his situation,” she told Extra while confirming that she doesn’t speak with Jon.
“I don’t have a relationship with him — I’ve moved on,” she revealed. “I support the kids and their relationship [with him] — some visit, some choose not to, some visit sometimes. I support them and what they want so they can be happy and whole.”
Collin will not be featured on the upcoming season of Kate Plus 8, which premieres on TLC Tuesday, November 22, at 10 p.m.
