Kermit the Frog definitely has a type. Just days after announcing his split from longtime love Miss Piggy, the beloved Muppet has already moved on — with yet another sassy swine, Denise! Now, in his first post-breakup interview, Kermie is opening up about his preference for pork.
“It’s the curly tail,” the famed amphibian told ET on Wednesday, Aug. 5. “It’s fascinating. I don’t know why it makes a difference to frogs, but it’s pretty cool.”
Speaking of “cool,” Kermit insists that he and Miss Piggy are totally copacetic. And good thing, too, since they’ll be working together on ABC’s upcoming fall Muppets series.
“We’re both working professionals. For years, we’ve had a professional relationship,” the “Rainbow Connection” singer told ET. “I’ve been professional. She wanted a relationship. That’s a bad joke, actually.”
But seriously, folks. Asked what led to the end of the couple’s four-decade-long relationship, Kermit said they just grew apart.
“It’s an interesting thing that happens sometimes — you’re with someone for years, and you suddenly discover that you have gone in two different directions,” he mused. “And when you’re a frog and a pig, those directions can be extreme.”
