Selma Blair has reportedly been arrested for allegedly attacking two flight attendants while experiencing a “medical emergency” mid-flight.
In a statement to Us, the JFK Port Authority Police Department shared that authorities responded to a call on Sunday, October 11, about a “physically abusive passenger” aboard a Delta flight. The aircraft had arrived from LAX airport and Blair was identified as a suspect.
“She was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation,” the statement read. “Two flight attendants also reported injuries, and one was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The FBI is investigating this incident.”
TMZ, the first to report the news on Monday, October 12, reported that Blair attempted to open the aircraft door while the plane was in the air, which led to an alleged confrontation with the crew.
The outlet obtained dispatch audio where officials requested medical personnel at the gate and reported of minor injuries, including a bloody nose and bite marks. Blair was arrested and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
According to TMZ, one of the flight attendants sustained a laceration and a bite. The outlet reported that Blair was put in restraints on the plane and arrested upon landing. Law enforcement told TMZ that Blair kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
When Blair arrived at the hospital in the ambulance, she allegedly assaulted a nurse who has pressed charges. Blair has been charged by the state with two counts of assault, one on a police officer and another on a nurse.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” a Delta spokesperson told Us in a statement.
A separate statement from the FBI noted that they are “responsible for investigating all assaults aboard aircraft.”
“Yesterday, we were informed by our partners at Port Authority Police Department of a potential assault aboard a flight that arrived into JFK airport,” the message read to Us. “As per long-standing DOJ policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.”
Blair’s rep shared in a statement to Us in the wake of the alleged incident, claiming that she “experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.”
“Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” the message read.
No further details about the medical emergency were shared.
Blair has been candid about her health through the years, sharing in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with MS. According to the Mayo Clinic, MS is “a disease that causes breakdown of the protective covering of nerves,” which “can cause numbness, weakness, trouble walking, vision changes and other symptoms.”
In 2025, Blair confirmed she had been relapse free for a “couple of years.”
“That, of course, means the world to me that I’m not, at this moment, accumulating more damage in my brain. I have also made a lot of strides with the vibe of neuroplasticity,” she told Stellar at the time.
Blair continued, “I’m very, very lucky. Everyone’s experience with MS is different. I think I do have a certain place [to speak publicly]. My big mouth likes to see what I can do about stigma.”
