Kim Kardashian's high fashion photo spread with famed fashion great Karl Lagerfeld may have been chock full of edginess, and newly released behind-the-scenes video of the CR Fashion Book shoot prove that it was just as dynamic.
In the minute-and-a-half video, the then-pregnant Kardashian, 32, is shown in various outfits -- starting out in a snug grey sweater and minimal makeup as she gets ready for the shoot.
She's then outfitted with a bejeweled Lady Gaga-esque mask and crown that completely covers her face. At other points in the video, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star can be seen adjusting gold grills on her teeth and stripping down to a bra top, exposing her very pregnant belly.
The entire teaser video is set to haunting opera music that accentuates the eery images.
The session, which took place in Paris on May 22 ("the day before Kim Kardashian, eight months pregnant, is allowed to fly back to L.A.," it reads on the screen), involves several key players, including Carine Roitfeld, founder and editor of the magazine; Riccardo Tisci, the art director for the shoot; and Lagerfeld, behind the camera.
Even Kardashian's ever-present mother, Kris Jenner, makes a brief cameo, chatting and laughing with Lagerfeld.
"Karl shooting my 2 girls," Kardashian's love Kanye West tweeted on Tuesday, Sept. 10, captioning a shot of Kardashian posing on a couch, pregnant with their daughter North West, now nearly three months old.
Though the spread, titled "Miss USA," has had a mixed reception, CR Fashion Book editor Roitfeld -- formerly of French Vogue -- defended the late-pregnancy spread.
"When we photographed her pregnant -- I love pregnant women -- she was beautiful," the Frenchwoman raved to the New York Post's Page Six on Friday, Sept. 6. "She was beautiful to cover; she is beautiful inside."
