It seemed like Kris Humphries was flipping the script when he countered Kim Kardashian's divorce filing with a legal maneuver of his own -- responding with a request for an annulment of their 72-day marriage on Thursday.

But a source close to Kardashian, 31, tells Us Weekly that's not the whole story by a long shot.

"She initially asked for an annulment, but he said no," the source says.

NBA star Humphries, 26, famously claimed he was blindsided by Kardashian's Oct. 31 move -- but the insider explains that the couple "discussed [splitting up] thoroughly, and he said no annulment. He wasn't blindsided."

The pal adds that Kardashian has no interest in haggling with her ex (they married Aug. 20) in court or in the public eye.

"Kim just wants it to be over and done with and move on," the source says. "She doesn't want a battle, she wants to leave this drama behind."

When she went through that farce of a wedding, I speculated that she would simply instruct the Officient NOT to file the certificate of marriage with the courts. In California one has 10 days from the time of the ceremony to file the paperwork that makes a marriage legal, and I beleieve there is a way to file to maintain confidentiality. I can see her being silly enough to go through an I'll-advised wedding for the sake of fame (or, infamy), but why file if there is any doubt? If something bizarre transpired to make Ms. Kardashian actually want to be married to Mr. Humphries, she could always have a discrete civil ceremony later to make it official. Wait...did I actually include the words 'Kardashian' and 'discrete' in the same sentence? My mistake.

I have a question, and not meaning to pertain to the Kardashians, but celebrities in general, how come magazines ask celebrities for tips on how to land a guy and all that when these are the people we hear on the news (gossip has even tainted Channel 12) are getting divorces and having custody battles over their children? I mean, these are the skinny and gorgeous celebrities who might be on a boyâ??s wall or on the Playboy cover, but should we really ask for THEIR advice? 50 % of American marriages end in divorce, and probably half of that is by celebrities. Celebs â??taking a breakâ?? and â??focusing on their childrenâ?? is just getting old now.

If he wasn't blindsided, she would not have flown to his parents' home to see him.
