He’s finally keeping up! Jonathan Cheban may be Kim Kardashian’s BFF, but she didn’t confide in him initially about stepdad Bruce Jenner’s gender transition. The latest episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians revealed that the reality star finally told Cheban the news during a family ski trip.
“It was weird,” Cheban told Us Weekly on Tuesday, May 26, at the Club Life premiere in New York about how people were asking him about what was happening with Jenner. “I was like, I can’t lie to my mom anymore ‘cause it’s weird. Pictures of Bruce with nail polish on. I just didn’t know what to say.”
But now that the official announcement about Jenner’s transition from male to a female has been made — first with his 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, then the two special About Bruce episodes on Keeping Up With the Kardashians — Cheban, 41, is able to answer a little more freely.
“I heard he’s really happier than ever and just … the belle of the ball!” he told Us.
It wasn’t easy to get BFF Kardashian to talk, though, according to Cheban. “When we went on our ski trip, I confronted her because I literally couldn’t lie anymore,” he said.
An eight-part docuseries about Jenner’s transition and life as a transgendered woman will premiere July 26 on E!. The network has not yet announced a title for the series.
