"He's been by her side forever and they already live in the same building in LA," a source tells Us. "He has invested her well in real estate and other business dealings so she is financially in great shape. And he's always with her. They are the very best of friends and Jeffre is part of the family by now."

Phillips popped the question to the late Michael Jackson's older sister during filming of her reality show, Life With La Toya, on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network. Radar reported that La Toya's mother, Katherine Jackson, and nephew, Prince (Michael's eldest son), attended the nuptials.

During an interview with Us back in August 2011, Jackson spoke fondly of Phillips saying, "I have a best friend by the name of Jeffre Phillips who I simply adore. He is a wonderful person. We click very well and we are best friends. We think alike which is great."

Jackson previously married her former manager Jack Gordon in 1989, which she later said was a marriage in name only. The iconic star said she was forced to marry Gordon against her will, and she suffered years of abuse and manipulation under his control, including an incident in 1993 when Gordon thought he'd killed the singer.

Jackson finally filed for divorce in 1996. In August 2011, Jackson spoke with Us Weekly about her feelings toward men following the split.

"When I left him, I thought I don't ever want to see another man for the rest of my life," she said. "In my mind it wasn't my fault but if it happens again it's my fault because I could've learned from my mistakes."

Before her marriage, she was linked to legendary singer Prince and Diana Ross' brother Chico.
