It was tears and teeth for Lady Gaga at Sunday's YouTube Music Awards held in NYC.
The pop star gave a bizarre, tearful performance of her latest single "Dope" at the live-streamed show, performing in a flannel shirt, without shoes, while wearing a set of fake, decaying teeth. The much anticipated YouTube Awards quickly went downhill from the red carpet segment onward. Before her performance Gaga, 27, arrived at the Manhattan-based awards show wearing a set of giant yellow teeth along with a pair of uber-high platform shoes.
However, it was Gaga's 3-minute performance, reviewed by the LA Times as "deeply strange and out-of-tune," that made the biggest impact Sunday night. The "Applause" singer silently cried and wailed, and her fans slowly tuned her out. The Times reports that more than 4,000 viewers exited out of their browsers during the entertainer's performance.
Avicii, Arcade Fire and Eminem also hit the stage to deliver performances at the show. The YouTube Awards was hosted by actor Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts. Winners included Eminem (Artist of the Year) and Taylor Swift (YouTube phenomenon for her single "I Knew You Were Trouble").
