About

Eminem (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is a Grammy and Academy Award-winning rapper, songwriter and producer known for albums including The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show. Eminem was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and was raised primarily in Detroit, Michigan. He moved frequently as a child and attended Lincoln High School, though he did not graduate, instead dropping out to focus on pursuing music.

He began his career in Detroit’s underground rap scene, gaining attention with his 1996 debut album Infinite. His breakthrough came after the release of The Slim Shady LP in 1999, which earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and brought mainstream success with singles like “My Name Is.” His rise continued with The Marshall Mathers LP (2000), which became one of the fastest-selling rap albums of all time.

Eminem went on to release multiple chart-topping albums, including The Eminem Show (2002), Encore (2004), Recovery (2010) and Music to Be Murdered By (2020). He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile, in which he also starred.

Eminem was married twice to Kim Scott, first from 1999 to 2001 and again briefly in 2006. They share one daughter, Hailie Jade Scott (born in 1995). He also adopted Alaina Marie Scott (born in 1993) and Stevie Scott (born in 2002). He later moved on with stylist Katrina Malota.
